Pickleball in New London, Connecticut
New London's recreation program gives players a practical indoor route to games at the city's community facilities. Open gym uses advance signups through TeamReach, and fall leagues provide structured evening play for adults. Senior pickleball also runs weekly at Jennings Elementary School.
The city program is more useful for someone arriving alone than an unscheduled outdoor court. A $5 open-gym day pass is available, and the first fall league matches individual players without requiring a partner.
Indoor Pickleball Around New London
- New London Recreation open gym, 1 Recreation Way. The city's indoor program uses TeamReach for reservations. Join the New London Recreation group with code 06320, choose an available pickleball session, and buy either a $5 day pass or a 10-session punch card. This is the most direct local option for drop-in style play. See open gym passes and access details.
- Jennings Elementary School gym, 50 Mercer Street. New London Recreation schedules weekly Pickleball for Seniors here. The current fall calendar lists Wednesday sessions from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. School gym access is tied to the registered recreation program, not general walk-in court use. View the Jennings gym calendar.
- New London Recreation fall league, 1 Recreation Way. Players age 16 and older can register for indoor Monday evening league sessions. The first 2026 session runs September 14 through October 19 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM and matches individuals without partners. The second runs October 26 through November 30 and requires a partner. Register for a fall league.
Learning the Game in New London
Adult beginners should start with New London Recreation's open gym group. Join TeamReach with code 06320 and select a session before buying a day pass. This gives a new player a route into the local playing community without needing to find a court and three partners independently.
The current city catalog does not list a dedicated beginner clinic. Players age 16 and older who know the basic rules can use the first fall league because participants are matched without partners. Seniors have a separate weekly program at Jennings Elementary. For individual instruction before joining group play, use this site's Coaches section.
New London Leagues and Open Gym
Open gym is the recurring organized option. Reservations are managed in the New London Recreation TeamReach group, code 06320. A day pass costs $5, and a 10-session punch card is available for regular players. The schedule can change with gym use, so the TeamReach event list is the source for choosing a current night.
The fall 2026 league creates two six-week blocks on Monday evenings. Session 1 is the easier route for solo players because recreation staff match individuals. Session 2 is team based and requires a partner. Weekly senior pickleball at Jennings Elementary adds a daytime option on Wednesdays.
Playing Pickleball During a New London Visit
Solo visitors should join the New London Recreation TeamReach group with code 06320. Reserve an open gym space, then buy the $5 day pass through the recreation store. This confirms that an organized session is running and avoids arriving at a gym that is booked for another activity.
If your trip falls between September 14 and October 19, the Monday evening league accepts individual registrations and matches players without partners. Later fall league play requires a partner. Visitors age 16 and older pay the same published league fee as residents.
